Description
Pikos Ramus Retractor
Harvesting a block from the mandibular ramus means working far back, where the cheek and soft tissue crowd the site. The Pikos ramus retractor is designed for that access. Its working end measures 16 mm wide at the tip, according to the supplier catalogue. So it holds tissue aside along the external oblique ridge while the surgeon cuts.
Standard Version
The Standard option is a plain stainless steel retractor. It is simple to clean and has nothing to connect. Many surgeons choose it when the operatory light and loupes already give a clear view of the ramus. It also suits teams that want a lighter, uncomplicated tray.
Fiber Optic Version
The Fiber Optic option shares the same 16 mm tip. However, it adds a fiber optic feature that brings light into the posterior field. As a result, shadows from the cheek and the surgeon’s hands are reduced. Before ordering, please check the photos and ask us about connecting it to your light source, since that equipment is not described in the catalogue.
Choosing Between Them
Think about how often you harvest from the ramus and how well your current lighting reaches it. If shadows slow you down, the Fiber Optic version is worth considering. Otherwise, the Standard retractor covers most needs. Some practices keep one of each.
Material, Inspection and Coverage
Both versions are inspected in the United States, where our staff check the tip edge and handle before dispatch. Each Pikos retractor arrives non-sterile; clean the blade thoroughly, then sterilize it according to your protocol before ramus work. Pick Standard or Fiber Optic: our three years against manufacturing defects pledge applies to either retractor body.
The steel grade is covered by ASTM F899. Browse all surgical retractors, collect cortical shavings with a curved bone scraper, or visit our FAQs.
