Description
Partsch Gouge
The Partsch gouge is a slender bone gouge with a small hollow tip. It scoops thin bone in the jaw, the face and the small bones of the hand and foot.
A hollow tip for curved work
The rounded edge cuts a smooth groove instead of a flat step. That shape helps when you need to uncover a root or a cyst wall. It also gathers small chips of graft with little crushing.
Ten size combinations
Each length, 13.5 cm or 17 cm, comes in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm. Pick the short length for front-of-mouth or hand work. Then choose the long one when access runs deeper.
Pairing the Partsch gouge
Surgeons often use it after the matching chisel has opened the bone. Next, the gouge clears and rounds the cavity. Together, the two give clean margins with little force.
Gouge after chisel
Often the chisel opens the bone first, and the gouge follows. Then the hollow tip rounds the margins and clears soft tissue from the cavity. Moreover, this order keeps the cut tidy and saves bone.
Partsch gouge choices
- 13.5 cm or 17 cm length
- 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 mm hollow tip
- Light mallet or hand pressure
- Sold non-sterile
Looking after small gouges
Rinse bone from the hollow right away so it cannot harden. After that, brush, dry and rack each size. Small tips bend if dropped, so handle them with care.
Choosing your gouge
Any gouge undergoes a detailed examination in Atlanta ahead of shipping. We warrant the gouge for three years against manufacturing defects by default. Extra options appear in the orthopedic department. A second gouge in the sterile store covers reprocessing gaps. Some trays also hold the Partsch chisel. Steel in surgical instruments follows a known standard: ASTM F899. Our FAQ list covers typical order queries. We also suggest an option within a day or so.
