Description
O’Connor Conjunctival Forceps, 1×2 Teeth
The O’Connor conjunctival forceps is a 10cm tool for lifting the thin membrane over the eye. Its 1×2 teeth hold the tissue so you can tent it, cut it or move it aside.
Where it earns its place
Conjunctiva is thin and slips. A toothed grip keeps it from sliding while you work. So this pattern often shows up in strabismus surgery, pterygium work and other cases on the front of the eye.
Reading the tooth layout
One jaw has a single tooth and the other has two. When they close, the single tooth drops between the pair. That gives a firm hold on a small pinch of tissue. However, it is still gentle enough for a thin layer.
The 10cm grip
A 10cm length lets you hold the forceps like a pen. You also gain some room between your hand and the eye. That helps when you need to see past your fingers or work with a speculum in place.
O’Connor tooth checks
- Teeth mesh evenly with no gap
- Tips line up when closed
- Spring action feels smooth
- No burrs on the outer edges
Brushing O’Connor teeth
Rinse the jaws right after use. Then brush between the teeth with a soft brush, because tissue can lodge there. Finally, dry the forceps fully before it goes into the sterilizer. Wet hinges and teeth tend to spot, and spots can turn into pits over time.
Your O’Connor forceps arrives non-sterile. After a wash and a sterilizer run, the O’Connor pair is ready for repeat cases. Each O’Connor pair follows our own specification, using stainless that meets ASTM F899. In addition, every O’Connor pair carries our O’Connor promise for three years against manufacturing defects; O’Connor teeth included. You can also view the ophthalmology section, the Elliot conjunctival forceps as a close sibling, or our questions page.
O’Connor forceps suit professional users. Plan O’Connor reprocessing with our sterilization notes and check delivery times.
