The Obwegeser chin retractor holds soft tissue away from the chin and front of the mandible. Maxillofacial surgeons use it for exposure during chin surgery such as genioplasty.

A channelled blade

The retractor has a channelled blade that sits against the bone. The assistant then draws the lip and soft tissue down and away. As a result, the surgeon gains a clear view of the chin.

Two blade widths

We offer an 8 mm blade and a 10 mm blade. The narrow blade suits tight spaces. Meanwhile, the wider blade holds back more tissue at once.

Where it fits

Chin and anterior mandible work calls for several retractors and elevators. For example, a periosteal elevator lifts the tissue first. Then this retractor keeps the field open while the surgeon works.

Choosing a width

Think about the size of the exposure you usually need. If you often work in small fields, pick the 8 mm blade. However, many surgeons keep both widths so the assistant can swap as needed.

Rinse the channel quickly after surgery so blood does not settle in it. Next, clean the groove with a narrow soft brush. Dry the retractor fully, then sterilize it.
