Description
Nail Cutter
The nail cutter trims thick toenails with a strong lever action. Four lengths give a range of leverage and control.
Four lengths
We offer 12, 13, 14 and 16 cm. Shorter cutters suit finer work. Meanwhile, the 16 cm gives the most leverage.
Why a lever nail cutter
Long handles multiply hand force. Consequently, thick nails cut with less effort. That helps both staff and patients.
Typical uses
Podiatry clinics use it for thickened nails. In addition, nurses use it in foot care. It also suits care homes.
Technique
Cut in small steps along the nail. Then follow the curve. Also, avoid cutting too close to the skin.
Choosing a length
Pick by nail thickness and hand size. For example, 16 cm suits very thick nails. However, 12 cm suits routine trims.
Finishing
Smooth the edge with a file. Moreover, that removes sharp points. In addition, check the corners.
Nail cutter sizes in a podiatry kit
Most podiatry kits carry one short and one long cutter. Consequently, the clinician can switch between fine trimming and heavy cutting without leaving the chair. A spare also covers sterilising time.
