Myles Nasal Cutting Forceps

The Myles nasal cutting forceps cuts straight through nasal tissue. Surgeons use Myles nasal cutting forceps to remove small pieces of septal and turbinate tissue with a clean cut.

Why through-cutting helps

A through-cutting jaw slices tissue instead of tearing it. So the surgeon removes exactly the piece inside the jaw and leaves the surrounding mucosa intact. That also tends to keep the field tidier.

Four jaw sizes

We offer four jaws: 12 x 6 mm, 12 x 4 mm, 11 x 3 mm and 9 x 2 mm. The larger jaws take bigger bites, while the 9 x 2 mm jaw handles fine trimming. Each option shares the same basic pattern.

Uses in nasal surgery

Surgeons apply this pattern to septal spurs, turbinate tissue and other small resections inside the nose. For example, after a septum is straightened, a small jaw can tidy the edges. Larger jaws then take down bulkier tissue.

Choosing jaw sizes

First, consider the largest bite you routinely need. Next, add one smaller jaw for detail work near the end of the case. Two sizes cover most needs, although busy departments often stock all four.

Caring for cutting jaws

Cutting edges stay sharp longer when you clean them gently. Therefore rinse the jaws right away and use a soft brush instead of a wire one. Then dry the forceps fully before sterilizing it.
