Description
Mod. Tubingen Iris Hook
The Mod. Tubingen iris hook is a 14cm hook with a sharp tip. The long shaft gives you reach. Meanwhile, the sharp tip lets you catch tissue at a single, exact point. So it suits steps where a firm hold matters most.
Tubingen tools and their style
Tubingen patterns cover a range of fine eye tools, from forceps to hooks. This modified version brings that style to a long iris hook. If you already use Tubingen forceps, it will feel familiar in the hand. Also, its 14cm length matches the reach of many long anterior segment tools.
When a sharp tip makes sense
A sharp tip catches and holds rather than pushing. Therefore it suits steps where a blunt hook would slip. However, it needs extra care near the lens capsule and other delicate tissue. Many surgeons pair it with a blunt hook and switch as needed.
Mod. Tubingen summary
- Length: 14cm for long reach
- Edge: sharp for a firm catch
- Slim shaft for small openings
- Reusable after each cycle
Protecting the sharp Tubingen tip
The Tubingen point dulls if it hits other steel. So keep it in a slotted rack or slip on a tip guard before transport. When the case ends, wipe the point with a damp swab, then wash and dry the whole hook. We ship the Tubingen non-sterile, so its first trip is to the steriliser. After that, it goes back to work case after case.
Mod. Tubingen warranty
