Description
Mod. Bonn Lachrymal Cannula
The modified Bonn lachrymal cannula is a blunt cannula for irrigating the tear drainage system. You pass it through the punctum into the canaliculus and flush with saline. If fluid reaches the nose or throat, the system is open.
Lacrimal irrigation basics
A lacrimal syringing test checks whether tears can drain. First, the punctum may need a dilator. Then the blunt tip enters the canaliculus, and fluid flows toward the nose. As a result, you can judge patency and spot reflux from the other punctum.
Features of this Bonn version
This listing comes in one version. Key points:
- Blunt lacrimal tip
- Fine tube for the canaliculus
- Syringe hub
- Reusable steel
Gentle technique
Pull the lid slightly outward to straighten the canaliculus. Then advance the tip along it with no force. If you feel resistance, stop and adjust the angle rather than pushing. Finally, inject slowly and ask the patient to report fluid in the throat.
Picking a lacrimal cannula
We list several lacrimal cannulas. The Anel pattern offers curved or straight tips. Meanwhile, the syringe adapter cannula offers four tip shapes. Choose the modified Bonn if you want a simple, single pattern for routine syringing.
Lacrimal cannula cleaning
Flush the tube with water right after use. Next, soak in a mild cleaner, rinse, and air dry. Since it arrives non-sterile, sterilize it before the first patient and between all later ones.
Bonn lachrymal cannula warranty
This Bonn cannula has protection for three years against manufacturing defects, so a loose hub from a production flaw is our problem. Its steel meets ASTM F899.
