Description
Mixter Hemostatic Forceps
Mixter right angle forceps have a jaw bent at a right angle near the tip. Surgeons use them to dissect around vessels and ducts and to pass ties beneath them.
Mixter right angle forceps: four lengths
The 14 cm size suits shallow fields. Meanwhile, the 18, 20 and 22 cm sizes reach into the chest, pelvis and upper abdomen.
The right-angled jaw
Because the tip turns sharply, it slips behind a structure that a straight jaw cannot reach. Then you open the jaws to spread tissue gently.
Dissecting and holding
The fine serrated tips grip a ligature securely. In addition, the ratchet lets you clamp a small vessel when you need to.
Passing a ligature
First, work the closed tips behind the vessel with small spreading movements. Once the tips show on the far side, open them slightly and let an assistant place the tie between them. Next, close the jaws and draw the tie back through. Finally, check that the tie lies flat before you knot it.
Reprocessing Mixter right angle forceps
Clean the angled tips with a soft brush, since debris gathers at the bend. Then rinse, dry fully and open the ratchet before sterilization.
