Description
Misch Ramus Retractor
When a surgeon works on the lateral ramus, the cheek and flap keep falling back into the field. The misch ramus retractor is shaped to sit along that bony ridge and hold the reflected tissue away. As a result, the operator sees the donor site clearly. Intrace USA supplies it in two mirror versions, each 21 cm long.
Left or Right: Matching the Blade to the Side
The catalogue lists this retractor as a Left instrument and a Right instrument. Both share the same 21 cm length. So the only difference is the direction of the working blade. Choose the Left version for the patient’s left ramus and the Right version for the right side. Many oral surgeons keep both in the tray, because a bilateral case can switch sides in one appointment.
Why a 21 cm Length Helps at the Back of the Mouth
The ramus lies far from the lips. A short retractor would leave the assistant’s hand in the line of sight. At 21 cm, this pattern lets the assistant hold from outside the commissure while the blade reaches the site. Therefore the light path stays open, and the operator keeps room for a bur, a saw or a bone scraper.
Where It Fits in Implant and Graft Surgery
Clinicians typically reach for a ramus retractor during bone harvesting from the external oblique ridge. It also helps with posterior implant placement. In addition, it improves access around third molars. In each case, the blade protects the reflected flap while the assistant applies steady tension.
Steel, Inspection and Coverage
The retractor is surgical stainless steel. Our team checks it in the United States before shipment. It is delivered non-sterile, so clean and autoclave it before its first case. We stand behind each Left and Right unit for three years against manufacturing defects.
For the steel grade, read the ASTM F899 specification it is made to. Next, browse our Dental Implant Instruments range. Pair this retractor with the Molt 9 Periosteal Elevators, which raise the flap first. Ordering questions are answered in our FAQs.
Sold only for use by trained dental and surgical professionals. Before a case, review our care and sterilization guide and our shipping and delivery details.
