Description
Miller-Colburn Bone Curettes
The Miller-Colburn bone curette is a sharp-cupped scraping instrument in two lengths. It removes soft tissue and debris from bone cavities with controlled strokes.
Two lengths
The 15 cm version stays compact for close work. Meanwhile, the 18 cm version reaches further into a deep cavity. Both share the same pattern, so the feel stays familiar.
The cutting action
Like other bone curettes, it cuts on the pull. So you seat the cup at the far side and draw it back. Because the rim is sharp, light pressure often does the job.
Who uses the Miller-Colburn bone curette
Oral surgeons use it in sockets and around cysts. Likewise, teams working on fingers and toes find it handy. Orthopedic trays may carry it for graft collection.
Choosing a length
Pick 15 cm for the mouth, the hand and shallow spaces. However, pick 18 cm when the cavity sits deeper. Some trays carry both for flexibility.
Feel in the hand
A good curette should let you feel the bone through the handle. Because this pattern stays light, that feedback comes through clearly. As a result, you can tell when the wall is clean.
