Description
Milan Biopsy Curette
The Milan biopsy curette is a 28 cm instrument for taking endometrial tissue samples. It comes in three diameters, so you can match the cervix and the sample you need.
Three diameters
The 4 mm size fits a narrow cervical canal. Meanwhile, the 6 mm size covers most routine sampling in clinic and theater. Then the 9 mm size gathers a larger piece of tissue when you need more material.
28 cm reach
The length reaches the uterine cavity with plenty of room for the hand outside. So you can work comfortably with a speculum in place. Also, all three diameters share the same length and feel.
Role in the clinic
Clinicians use it to obtain endometrial tissue for the pathology lab. Because the sample goes for examination, a clean, intact piece matters. Therefore, choose a diameter that suits the amount of tissue you expect.
Pairing with other tools
A Milan biopsy curette often sits beside a tenaculum and speculum on a biopsy tray. In addition, a Hegar dilator can open the canal first when needed. That way, the larger diameters pass with less effort.
Cleaning Milan biopsy curette
Remove tissue from the tip before it dries on the steel. Then scrub the working end with a small brush and rinse it well under running water. Also, lay the curette flat in the tray so the tip stays straight between uses.
