Description
Martin Atrauma Cardiovascular Peripheral Vascular Clamp
The Martin vascular clamp closes off a peripheral vessel with atraumatic jaws during repair or bypass work. Four lengths let the team match reach to the depth of the incision.
Atraumatic jaws for peripheral vessels
Peripheral arteries often have thin walls that bruise with little force. So this clamp relies on atraumatic jaws that hold the vessel without crushing its lining. Also, surgeons can release and reapply it as the repair moves along.
Four working lengths
The 16 cm size suits shallow exposures close to the skin. Then the 17 and 18 cm sizes cover most mid-depth work. Finally, the 20 cm version reaches vessels lying deeper in a larger patient.
Where it fits on the tray
Many peripheral sets carry two or three clamp lengths side by side. That way, the scrub nurse can hand over the right reach without a search. Plus, a matched pair helps when surgeons control a vessel above and below an opening.
Ordering more than one size
Because patient build varies, a single length rarely covers every case. So many departments stock the 16 and 20 cm Martin vascular clamp together. In addition, spare units keep a tray complete while others go through reprocessing.
Cleaning Martin vascular clamp
Wipe blood from the jaws right after use so residue cannot dry in place. Next, open the clamp fully for washing and inspect the tips under good light. Store it open on a stringer to keep load off the jaws.
