Description
Mallet (Steel,Solid) (With Plastic Handle)
This steel mallet with plastic handle pairs a solid metal head with a light, grippy handle. The result is a firm strike and a comfortable hold.
Head and handle
The steel head gives a crisp, direct blow. Meanwhile, the plastic handle keeps total weight down and feels warm in the hand. So the surgeon can work longer without strain.
Three head sizes
Choose 30, 37 or 42 mm. The 30 mm head suits medium blades. In contrast, the 42 mm head delivers the most force for broad osteotomes and impaction.
Where a steel mallet with plastic handle works best
Orthopedic and trauma teams use it for osteotomies, graft impaction and seating implants. It also helps when a long case calls for many blows. The handle limits hand fatigue.
Choosing between head sizes
If your tray holds mainly medium osteotomes, start with 37 mm. However, if you do joint replacement or pelvic work, the 42 mm version earns its place. Small-bone teams may prefer 30 mm.
Why a plastic handle helps
Steel handles feel cold and slick, especially with wet gloves. By contrast, a plastic grip stays warm and secure. Consequently, the surgeon can hold it loosely and still keep control of the swing.
