Description
Mallet (Repercussion Free)
The repercussion-free mallet is designed to limit bounce after each strike. So more of the blow goes into the osteotome or impactor and less comes back into the hand.
Less rebound, more control
A standard head can bounce off the instrument. Moreover, this design dampens that bounce. Therefore the surgeon keeps better control of the blade and feels less shock in the wrist.
Size and weight
The mallet is 25 cm long and weighs about 675 g. Its head has a 30 mm face. Besides, that combination suits heavy osteotomies and impaction.
Where a repercussion-free mallet helps
Joint replacement teams use it to seat components. Trauma surgeons use it to drive large osteotomes. In addition, long cases with many blows benefit from the reduced shock.
Comfort over a long case
Repeated rebound tires the forearm. With less bounce, the surgeon can keep a steady rhythm. As a result, fatigue builds more slowly during big cases.
How low rebound feels
With a standard head, each blow kicks back a little into the wrist. Here, however, the head stays on the instrument after impact. As a result, the surgeon feels a firm, dead stop rather than a bounce.

Cleaning and storage
Wash the mallet after every case, then dry it fully. Check the faces for damage. Store it on a flat surface so it cannot roll off a tray.
Delivery basics
This mallet carries a pledge for three years against manufacturing defects without a fee. Ahead of packing, an inspector in Atlanta studies the mallet in detail. You may also want the lead-filled plastic mallet. A backup mallet in the sterile store saves a cancelled case. The buyer FAQ walks through orders, shipping and returns. For a primer on instrument steels, go to ASTM F899. Check our main orthopedics catalog to finish the tray. We readily check sizes for repeat orders.
