Lucae Hooklet

The Lucae hooklet is a fine hook for the ear. Otologists use it to catch foreign bodies and debris in the ear canal and draw them out.

A small hook for small spaces

The ear canal leaves little room for instruments. Therefore a slim hooklet with a small tip suits it well. So it can slip past an object and pull it toward the opening.

Three sizes

The clinician first locates the debris with an otoscope. Then the Lucae tip goes behind it. Next, a steady pull brings it out.

Selecting sizes

The 2 mm size suits small objects and narrow canals. Meanwhile, the 4 mm size catches larger debris. Many clinics buy all three Lucae sizes together, because canals and debris vary widely.

Caring for the Lucae

Clean the tip after each use, because debris hides in the hook curve. Then rinse and dry the Lucae completely. Sterilize it with a tip guard.
