Description
Lordan Chalazion Forceps
The Lordan chalazion forceps is a 9cm lid clamp for chalazion surgery. It grips the lid around the lesion, holds it everted, and limits bleeding. So you can incise and curette in a clear, steady field.
How the Lordan clamp holds the lid
Like other chalazion clamps, the Lordan has an open jaw that frames the lesion and a firm jaw on the skin side. A locking mechanism then keeps the pressure even. Therefore, the lid stays put without an assistant’s fingers.
The single 9cm size
This page offers one size, 9cm. That length gives a stable grip without crowding the field. Summary:
- Size: 9cm
- Open jaw to frame the chalazion
- Firm jaw on the skin side
- Steel construction for reuse
Step by step
Inject local anesthetic first, as your practice requires. Then place the open jaw over the lesion on the inner lid. Close the clamp and evert the lid. Next, incise and curette. Finally, ease the clamp off and press on the lid for a minute or two.
When to choose the Lordan
Pick the Lordan if you want one reliable size for routine chalazia. In contrast, the Desmarres comes in three figures. Many clinics keep one of each, since lesion sizes vary.
Caring for the Lordan clamp
Open the clamp fully after use. Next, brush the jaws and the lock to remove blood. Rinse and dry it well. It reaches you unsterilized; after cleaning and an autoclave run, it is ready again.
Lordan forceps order notes
