Description
Light Guide Cable
A light guide cable carries cold light from a light source to an endoscope or lighted retractor. Thousands of glass fibers inside the jacket move the light with little loss.
Two bundle diameters
You can order a 3.5 mm or a 5.0 mm bundle. Furthermore, the smaller bundle suits fine scopes. Meanwhile, the 5.0 mm carries more light for wide-angle views and retractors.
Jacket colours of the light guide cable
The cable comes in black or gray. Colour does not change the optics. However, some teams use it to tell sizes apart on the tray.
Connecting it
Each end takes an adaptor for the light source and the instrument. See our adaptors for common brands. Also, avoid tight bends, since sharp kinks break fibers.
Matching cable to light source
Check which fitting your light source uses before ordering. Additionally, the adaptor screws onto the cable end and seats in the source port. Similarly, the far end needs an adaptor for the scope or retractor.
Light guide cable options
- 3.5 mm or 5.0 mm fiber bundle
- Black or gray jacket
- Accepts standard end adaptors
Looking after the fibers
Wipe the jacket and end faces with a soft cloth after use. Coil the cable loosely in wide loops. Then check both ends for dark spots, which show broken fibers.
Guarantee and service
Every cable goes through a visual check by our Atlanta team before we post it. This cable keeps cover running three years against manufacturing defects from the invoice date. Companion pieces sit in the general instrument list. For a matching piece, add the light source adaptors. Searching for help choosing a cable? Get in touch and we will reply.
