Description
Lead Hand
The lead hand is a weighted holder for hand surgery. Its bendable fingers keep the patient’s hand and fingers still on the arm table. You can order it in adult or child size.
How it works
The holder is heavy enough to stay put on the arm table. Meanwhile, its soft metal fingers bend around the patient’s fingers. As a result, the hand stays open and steady during the operation.
Adult or child size
Hands vary a lot in size. Therefore we offer a larger adult version and a smaller child version. Choose the one that matches your patients.
Who uses a lead hand
Hand surgeons use it for tendon, nerve and fracture work in the palm and fingers. Also, plastic surgery teams use it. Day surgery units that run hand lists keep one.
Positioning tips
Place a drape or pad under the hand before you bend the fingers into place. Then shape each finger strip gently. Avoid pressure points on the skin.
Why a still hand matters
Fine hand surgery needs a steady field. Consequently, the holder frees an assistant from holding the fingers. It also gives a more stable position than a gloved hand.
Lifting and handling
Lead is soft and dense, so the holder is heavy for its size. Lift it with both hands and set it down gently. Avoid sharp bends that could crack a finger strip over time.
