Description
Lambotte Periosteal Raspatory
The Lambotte periosteal raspatory is a sturdy stripping instrument from the father of fracture fixation. It frees periosteum so a plate or cut can sit directly on bone.
Linked to fracture care
Albin Lambotte coined the term osteosynthesis and designed many fixation tools. This raspatory came from that work. Therefore it suits the exposures that plating and screw fixation demand.
Blade sizes
Blades measure 10, 15, 20 or 25 mm across. Narrow blades clear around fracture edges. Meanwhile, wide blades strip long stretches of shaft quickly.
Where the Lambotte periosteal raspatory fits
Trauma surgeons use it before plating the tibia, femur or humerus. It also helps in osteotomies, where the periosteum must lift before the cut. In short, it is a staple on fracture trays.
Gentle stripping
Strip only as much periosteum as the fixation needs. That protects the blood supply to the bone. So work in small, careful strokes and keep the blade flat.
Narrow versus wide blades
Narrow Lambotte blades work around fracture lines and small fragments. By contrast, the 20 and 25 mm blades strip long stretches quickly. Therefore most fracture sets hold one of each.
Lambotte periosteal raspatory widths
- 10, 15, 20 and 25 mm
- Sturdy flat blade
- Built for fracture exposures
- Ships non-sterile
Care steps
Wipe the blade clean the moment the case is over. Then rinse, dry and inspect the edge. Store the widths in labeled slots.
Buying this raspatory
Before it ships, our Atlanta crew looks over each raspatory piece by piece. We warrant every raspatory for three years against manufacturing defects by default. To round out the tray, look at our Lambotte osteotome. The FAQ page walks through payment and delivery. Most hospitals keep a backup raspatory in case one is out for service. Need stock for a new tray? Drop us a line for a quick answer. Surgical stainless steel meets a public standard, which is ASTM F899. See our wider orthopedics catalog to finish the tray.
Sold to medical professionals. Our reprocessing guide sets out picture variation along with nickel content. Delivery options show on the shipping info page.
