Description
Lahey Goiter Seizing Forceps
The Lahey goiter forceps grasp and lift thyroid tissue. Three sharp teeth on each jaw grip the gland firmly, so the surgeon can draw it into view.
Two lengths
We offer 15 cm and 20 cm. Additionally, the 15 cm suits smaller glands. Meanwhile, the 20 cm reaches larger goiters.
Teeth of the Lahey goiter forceps
Each jaw carries three sharp teeth. As a result, the grip holds firm, slippery tissue. That gives strong, controlled traction.
Typical procedures
Thyroid and parathyroid surgeons use them. For example, they lift a lobe during thyroidectomy. They also help deliver a large goiter.
Technique
Grasp the tissue that will be removed. Then lift gently while dissecting. Also, avoid grasping near the nerves.
On the thyroid tray
Kocher enucleators and Mastin clamps sit alongside. Together they cover gland delivery and muscle division. Furthermore, many neck trays carry a pair.
Choosing a length
Small glands need less reach. By contrast, large goiters need 20 cm. Also, many surgeons keep both.

How we back the forceps
Both Lahey lengths come with three years against manufacturing defects. Any forceps passes a thorough look at our Atlanta site before it ships. To round out the tray, see the Kocher enucleator. With a general query, consult the order FAQ. For the basics of medical stainless steel, look up ASTM F899. Searching for a second opinion on sizing? Get in touch and we will reply.
