Description
Krause-Voss Ear Polypus Snare Closed Tip
The Krause-Voss ear polypus snare is a wire loop instrument for otology. Surgeons use it to encircle an aural polyp at its base and then remove it cleanly in one step.
How a snare works
The surgeon threads fine wire through the instrument and forms a loop at the tip. Next, the loop slides over the polyp. Drawing the wire back then tightens the loop until the polyp comes free.
Closed tip, 18 cm
This version has a closed tip and measures 18 cm. It sits alongside the open tip Krause model in our range. If you are replacing an older snare, compare the tip style before ordering.
Clinical setting
Aural polyps often arise from chronic middle ear disease. Therefore, surgeons usually remove them for diagnosis and to restore a view of the drum. A snare removes the polyp at its base, so the specimen stays whole.
Wire and accessories
The snare needs fresh wire for each case. Our refill rolls hold 10 m each, in a choice of 0.3 or 0.4 mm wire. Also, keep ear specula and suction ready during the procedure.
Caring for your Krause-Voss ear polypus snare
Remove and discard the used wire first. Then clean the barrel and tip with a narrow brush and rinse well. Dry every part before sterilization.
