Description
Krause Trocar
The Krause trocar reaches the maxillary sinus along a curved path. Its stylet pierces the wall, and the cannula stays for washout.
Four diameters
Choose 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 or 5.5 mm. Furthermore, small sizes reduce trauma. Meanwhile, larger sizes speed up irrigation.
The curve on the Krause trocar
The curved cannula follows the nasal anatomy. As a result, the tip meets the sinus wall at a good angle. In addition, that makes entry more predictable.
Clinical use
ENT surgeons use it for antral washout and sampling. Moreover, it suits both clinic and theatre. Besides, many departments keep it beside a straight trocar.
Handling
Hold the hub firmly and press with steady force. Then withdraw the stylet once inside. Afterwards, connect the syringe and irrigate gently.
Size selection
Start with 3 mm for a first, diagnostic puncture. If thick pus is expected, move up to 5 or 5.5 mm. Above all, choose the smallest size that will drain the sinus well.
Krause trocar options
- 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 5.5 mm
- Curved cannula with sharp stylet
- Reusable steel
Care
Separate the parts after use. Flush the cannula and brush it, then dry. Keep the stylet point protected in storage.
The promise on each trocar
Should this trocar develop a build flaw, you keep three years against manufacturing defects. Every trocar passes a personal check from Atlanta staff before dispatch. For quick answers, consult our FAQ section. A spare trocar on standby saves a cancelled case. Open our broad general instruments catalog for other sizes. For a close alternative, consider the Pierce trocar. For a summary of instrument alloys, read ASTM F899.
Sold for professional use. Return rules sit on our returns policy. Photos may not match every option, and the alloy includes nickel; read the cleaning and care notes to learn more.
