Description
Pierce Trocar
The Pierce trocar opens the maxillary sinus for washout. A sharp stylet passes the bone, and the cannula then carries fluid.
Three diameters
You can order 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0 mm. The small size suits diagnostic puncture. Meanwhile, the larger sizes allow faster irrigation.
Why the Pierce trocar
Its stylet has a strong point for the bony wall. In addition, the cannula is wide enough for thick secretions. So it suits chronic sinus cases.
Where it fits
Rhinologists choose it for chronic sinus washout. Moreover, it helps when taking cultures. Typically it pairs with an irrigation syringe.
Technique
Anaesthetise the area first. Then direct the point upward and outward with steady pressure. Finally, confirm entry before flushing.
Choosing between puncture trocars
The Pierce pattern runs straight, so the angle comes from the wrist. In contrast, the Krause cannula follows a curve. Many rhinologists like that fixed angle. Therefore, surgeons who prefer a fixed angle often choose Krause, while others keep Pierce.
Pierce trocar options
- 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mm diameters
- Sharp stylet with cannula
- Reusable steel
Cleaning
Flush the cannula, then brush the bore. Wash the stylet separately and dry both. Store them together.
Why we stand behind your trocar
Every trocar goes through a hand inspection at our Atlanta site ahead of shipping. If each trocar shows a build fault, you have three years against manufacturing defects. Often bought with it is the Krause trocar. The help page handles shipping and refunds. For the basics of surgical-grade stainless, read ASTM F899. A backup trocar on standby keeps lists moving. Looking for a bulk price? Reach out and we will reply. Matching options wait in our general surgery line.
Intended for professional buyers. Shown images can vary a little, while the steel includes some nickel; use the cleaning and care notes for advice. Transit times sit on the shipping terms.
