Description
Kratz Capsule Polisher
The Kratz capsule polisher is a fine instrument for scrubbing residual cells and plaque from the posterior capsule. You can choose between two tip finishes: sandblasted or diamond dusted. Each gives a different level of grip on the capsule surface.
Two finishes, two feels
A sandblasted tip has a fine matte texture. It lifts cells with gentle friction and suits routine polishing. In contrast, a diamond dusted tip carries a coating of fine abrasive particles. It grips more firmly, so it can help with tougher plaque. However, it needs a lighter touch.
Choosing your finish
Pick sandblasted for most cases and for surgeons new to polishing. Then consider diamond dusted when plaque resists a standard tip. Options:
- Finish: sandblasted
- Finish: diamond dusted
- Kratz pattern polishing tip
- Steel shaft and handle
Polishing with care
Fill the bag before you start. Next, touch the capsule lightly and move in short strokes. If you see wrinkles, ease off at once. Also, avoid the same spot for long, since the capsule is thin.
Cleaning textured tips
Both finishes trap debris. So brush the tip with a soft brush under running water, then use an ultrasonic bath if your protocol allows it. Next, rinse and dry it, then look at the tip under magnification for any trapped matter. The polisher reaches you non-sterile. Once you wash it and run a full autoclave cycle, either finish stands up to many more cataract lists.
Kratz polisher cover and related items
Either finish is protected for three years against manufacturing defects, though normal wear of the coating is not a defect. The stainless follows ASTM F899. See more cataract surgery tools in our catalog. For an irrigating option, view the Jensen capsule polisher. Our FAQ page covers returns.
