Description
Kalt Capsular Forceps
The Kalt capsular forceps is a traditional capsule pattern at 10 cm. Like other capsule forceps, it comes from earlier cataract methods. Then surgeons gripped the lens capsule directly. Now it serves mostly in special cases and in complete instrument sets.
Why some theaters still stock it
Not every case follows the standard path. For example, a surgeon may meet a complex lens or a thick membrane. In such moments, a capsule forceps can be useful to have on hand. So it earns its place even if you rarely use it.
Kalt versus Arruga
Both are classic 10 cm capsule forceps. However, they differ in their eponym and in small details of form. So compare the product images, and choose the one that matches your training. Also, ask us if you want both for a side by side look.
Handling a Kalt
Hold it lightly in a pencil grip. Then approach the tissue at a low angle, so the jaws close flat. Move slowly, because capsule tissue is thin and tears easily.
Inspection before each use
Capsule forceps need clean, true tips. Therefore, check them under magnification before each case. If the tips cross or gap, set the forceps aside for repair or replacement.
- 10 cm length
- Traditional capsule pattern
- For capsule or membrane handling
- Reusable after sterilization
Cleaning routine
Rinse it soon after surgery. Next, wash it with a mild detergent and a soft brush. Also, dry it well, since water left at the joint can cause spots over time.
Kalt order information
The forceps ships non-sterile. Kalt patterns, like all our tools, carry three years against manufacturing defects. Kalt jaws use surgical stainless meeting ASTM F899. Need a sister pattern?
