Description
Jansen Bone Curette
The Jansen bone curette is a scraping instrument with a sharp cup. It comes in three lengths, which helps you match reach to the depth of the cavity.
Three lengths
Choose 15, 16 or 20 cm. Besides, the shorter models give fine control near the surface. Meanwhile, the 20 cm model reaches deeper cavities with ease.
A pattern from ear surgery
Albert Jansen worked in ear surgery, and several bone instruments carry the Jansen name. Moreover, this curette suits mastoid and sinus work. However, it also serves well in general bone surgery.
Uses of the Jansen bone curette
Surgeons use it to clean cavities, remove diseased bone and lift soft tissue. It also helps prepare a site for graft. Many ENT and orthopedic trays carry it.
Picking a length
For shallow cavities, the 15 or 16 cm length is ideal. However, for deeper spaces, choose 20 cm. The cup works the same way in all three.
Reach and control
Longer curettes reach deeper, yet they also amplify small hand movements. So the 15 and 16 cm models suit fine work near the surface. Then the 20 cm model takes over in deeper spaces.

Upkeep
Brush the cup and shank after use. Next, rinse and dry the curette. Check the rim for damage before each sterilization.
After you buy
Before the box closes, a colleague in Atlanta views the Jansen pattern by eye. Surgeons get three years against manufacturing defects with each Jansen curette on every unit. You might pair it with our Volkmann bone curette. For facts on instrument metals, go to ASTM F899. A second curette in stores keeps lists moving. Our FAQ list addresses typical order queries. We can help with sizing for repeat orders. Companion instruments feature in our orthopedic listings.
