Description
Hurd Ligature Needle
The Hurd ligature needle helps ENT surgeons pass ligatures in the tonsil bed. It comes curved to the left or the right, so the tip follows each side of the throat.
Two sides of the throat
The left and right tonsil beds mirror each other. Consequently, a matching pair of needles lets the surgeon work naturally on both sides.
Length of the Hurd ligature needle
At 20 cm, the needle reaches the tonsil bed through the open mouth. Meanwhile, it stays short enough for fine control.
Typical procedure
After tonsil removal, a bleeding point may need a tie. Besides, the needle passes around it, and the ligature closes it.
Technique
Hold the needle lightly. Then pass the tip under the vessel, thread the eye and withdraw. Finally, tie the ligature.
A paired instrument
Most ENT departments buy the Hurd as a left and right pair. That way, either side is covered during every list.

When you buy
Ahead of packing, our Atlanta inspector goes over every needle closely. Each Hurd needle carries three years against manufacturing defects, whichever way it curves. Many buyers also look at our Nager needle. Our help page covers orders, shipping and returns. Many theaters keep an extra needle so a case never waits.
