The Hofer retractor is a long, curved retractor for ENT surgery in the throat. Its length helps it hold tissue deep in the oral cavity and pharynx.

Reach for deeper work

Some throat procedures take place well behind the teeth. So a longer retractor lets the assistant hold tissue there without crowding the surgeon. Meanwhile, the curve follows the shape of the mouth.

23 cm, curved

We stock the Hofer pattern at 23 cm with a curved shape. That makes it one of our longer throat retractors. We do not list the Hofer blade size, so write to us for it.

Where it helps

ENT surgeons may use it during tonsil, palate or pharyngeal work. For instance, it can hold a pillar or soft tissue aside. Also, its length leaves space for other instruments at the mouth opening.

Hofer or another pattern?

If you need a long curved option, then the Hofer and Nager patterns both come at 23 cm. However, the Haslinger gives a shorter 18 cm curve. We can help you pick the right mix.

Caring for the Hofer

Wipe the blade clean soon after surgery. Next, clean the long curve with warm water and a nylon brush. Then dry the Hofer retractor well and sterilize it.
