Description
Heaney Needle Holder
The Heaney needle holder has curved jaws made for vaginal hysterectomy. Four lengths run from 20 cm to 26 cm.
Curved jaws
The curve presents the needle at a helpful angle in a narrow canal. So you can place pedicle sutures without awkward wrist turns. Also, the Heaney needle holder helps in tight pelvic spaces.
Firm hold
The jaws grip heavy curved needles securely. Also, the ratchet keeps them fixed between bites. So you can pass stitch after stitch with a steady rhythm.
Carbide or stainless
Plain stainless jaws keep costs down. However, the version with normal-profile carbide keeps its bite through heavy caseloads. Gold handles flag the carbide pattern.
Choosing a length
The 20 and 21 cm sizes suit most vaginal procedures. Then the 24 and 26 cm Heaney needle holder sizes help with deeper access. Gynaecology trays often stock two lengths. Meanwhile, the ratchet keeps each pedicle stitch secure while you adjust. In addition, the long sizes help with larger patients and deeper vaults.
Cleaning Heaney needle holder
Brush inside the curve of the jaws, where tissue tends to collect. Next, rinse and dry the holder completely. Also, lubricate the hinge before sterilization. Then check the curved tips for any gap under a bright light.
