Description
Hardy-Fahlbusch Dissector Inner Edge
The Hardy-Fahlbusch dissector is a transsphenoidal instrument with a sharp inner edge. Surgeons reach into the sella with it to separate and divide pituitary tumor tissue.
A sharp edge on the inside
Our version carries its sharp edge on the inner side of the tip. So the cutting action happens as the surgeon draws the instrument back toward the opening. Meanwhile, the outer face stays away from the structures on the far side.
Length and reach
The dissector measures 25 cm overall. That length lets the tip reach the sella while the handle stays outside the nose. Also, it lines up with the other long transsphenoidal pieces in our range. Ask us if you need tip measurements before you buy.
Where surgeons use it
Fahlbusch refined many of the tools for the transsphenoidal approach that Hardy made popular. This dissector follows that tradition. For instance, a surgeon may use it to open a tumor capsule and then hand over to enucleators and curettes for removal.
Adding it to your set
Most pituitary teams treat a sharp dissector as a companion to blunt enucleators. Therefore, check which blunt pieces you already own before you order. If your set lacks a rigid option, the Landolt-Reulen line also offers short, firm tips.
Caring for your Hardy-Fahlbusch dissector
Protect the sharp inner edge at every stage. Rinse the tip gently rather than scrubbing across the edge. Then dry it, place it in a tray slot or tip guard, and sterilize it. Also, avoid letting the tip touch other instruments in the washer.

Buying from Intrace USA
This dissector carries a three-year warranty on any workmanship defect. In addition, we give each instrument a hands-on check in Atlanta before the box goes out. The help and FAQs page covers order questions in more detail. On steel, our reference remains ASTM F899, the standard specification for surgical instrument alloys. For blunt work next to it, see the Hardy enucleator. You will find related tools across the neurosurgery collection.
For use by trained professionals. The care and sterilization page covers two common questions, photo accuracy and nickel in stainless, while the shipping details give transit times.
