Description

Gruenwald Laminectomy Rongeur, 3 x 10 mm, Bayonet-Shaped

The Gruenwald laminectomy rongeur is a bayonet-shaped grasping rongeur. Surgeons use it to remove disc and soft tissue through a narrow opening, often under the microscope.

A bayonet shaft for microsurgery

The bayonet offset moves the hand to the side of the microscope’s view. As a result, the surgeon can see the jaws at work. That matters in microdiscectomy, where the opening stays small.

Lengths and jaw angles

All versions have a 3 x 10 mm bite. You can choose a length of 12, 15 or 17 cm. Then choose straight jaws, 45 degrees up or 45 degrees down, which gives nine options.

Picking the jaw direction

Straight jaws reach tissue directly ahead. In contrast, the 45-degree up and down versions reach fragments sitting higher or lower than the entry point. So many surgeons stock at least two directions.

Choosing a length

Shorter lengths suit cervical and shallow work, while 17 cm suits deeper lumbar fields. First, check your usual depth. Next, add the angles you need, and ask us if you want help planning a set.

Caring for your Gruenwald rongeur

Because tissue lodges between the Gruenwald jaws, open and rinse them straight after the case. Then clean the jaws and pivot with a small brush. Dry the Gruenwald laminectomy rongeur fully and lubricate the pivot before sterilizing.
