Gritman Carvers Instruments
The Gritman carver is a stainless steel carving instrument listed on the carvers page of our supplier’s catalogue. Intrace USA sells it as one pattern, so there is nothing to select. Instead, the photos show the exact working ends, and the instrument ships from our stock in Atlanta, Georgia.
What a Carver Does on the Tray
Carvers remove excess material and recreate anatomy before a restoration or wax pattern hardens. First, the clinician trims flash at the margins. Next, the blade shapes cusps, ridges and grooves. Then the surface is refined until it blends with the tooth or the model. A dedicated carving blade makes these steps controlled and repeatable.
Using It in the Clinic or the Lab
Carving instruments appear in both operatories and dental laboratories. In the clinic, they shape direct restorative material. Meanwhile, technicians use carvers to form wax patterns on models. The catalogue does not say which setting the Gritman was designed for. So look at the photos and compare them with carvers you already use.
Getting the Best From the Blade
Light, overlapping strokes give the smoothest result. Also, rest part of the blade on a stable surface, because that support prevents gouging. Wipe material from the edge between strokes, since dried residue drags. When the edge eventually rounds, replace it rather than forcing a dull blade.
Checked, Warranted and Ready to Process
Every piece is examined in our United States facility before it is boxed. Furthermore, this Gritman pattern has three years against manufacturing defects, covering faults in steel or workmanship. Each one arrives non-sterile, so clean it and complete your sterilization routine before use.
