Description
Graefe Iris Forceps
The Graefe iris forceps is a 7cm fine forceps with more options than most. You choose the shaft shape, the tip width and the tooth style. That lets you match the tool to the tissue, from soft iris to firmer layers.
Three tip widths
The 0.5mm tip is the finest. It reaches into small spaces and leaves the smallest mark. Meanwhile, the 0.7mm tip is a middle ground for general work. By contrast, the 1.0mm tip spreads its hold over more tissue, which helps with a firmer grasp.
Plain or 1:2 teeth
Plain tips hold by friction, so they suit soft or fragile tissue. By contrast, 1:2 teeth bite in and stop slipping. Choose teeth when you need to cut or stitch right next to the tips.
Graefe shaft: curved vs straight
Straight tips are easy to aim and to clean. Curved tips keep your hand out of your view. So they help when you work around the curve of the globe.
A quick way to choose
- Fine iris work: 0.5mm, plain, curved
- General use: 0.7mm, toothed, straight
- Firmer tissue: 1.0mm with teeth
- Teaching sets: 0.7mm straight in both tooth styles
Graefe 7cm body
A short body puts your fingers near the tips. As a result, small moves stay small, and the forceps feels quick and light. It suits close work under the microscope.
Sorting and cleaning Graefe widths
Rinse the tips after use. Then check the teeth or faces under a loupe. Also store each width in a marked slot, because the sizes look alike at a glance.
Graefe forceps ship non-sterile, and each Graefe width goes back to work after cleaning and sterilization. Each width uses stainless matched to ASTM F899. We cover every Graefe tip width for three years against manufacturing defects; Graefe teeth included. Explore our ophthalmic instruments in Atlanta, the Fuchs iris forceps, or the FAQs for buyers.
