Description
Graefe Eye Speculum
The graefe eye speculum is a classic lid speculum named for one of the founders of modern eye surgery. You can order it in 7cm or 9cm. Also, you can pick a children or adult version, so the fit stays right across your list.
Graefe children versus adult
The children version suits small lids and short fissures. It opens to a smaller span, which keeps strain on the lids low. The adult version spreads wider for grown patients. So if you treat both groups, keep one of each in stock.
Picking 7cm or 9cm on the Graefe
The 7cm size is compact and pairs well with the children version. The 9cm size gives more reach and spread for adult eyes. In short, match the smaller size to small eyes and the larger size to large ones. When unsure, start small and step up.
Options in brief
- Lengths: 7cm or 9cm
- Patient type: children or adult
- Classic two-blade lid speculum
- Steel that you can reuse after each cycle
Cleaning a Graefe speculum well
Rinse right after the case, before debris dries. Then brush the blades and frame with a mild cleaner, rinse and dry. It ships non-sterile, so sterilize it before its first use. Finally, check that the blades sit even, since a twisted blade can press on the lid. A quick look under good light takes only a few seconds and can save a lid from a mark.
Guarantee and other Graefe tools
Should the speculum show a fault in build, our cover runs three years against manufacturing defects. We use stainless steel that meets ASTM F899. Our full eye surgery range also has Graefe hooks and knives, such as the Graefe hook. See our FAQ list for ordering help.
Professional use only. Follow our sterilization guidance and check the shipping times.
