Description
Gall Stone Forceps
These gall stone forceps remove stones from the gallbladder and upper bile duct. At 19.5 cm, they give close control when the stone sits near the opening.
Length of the gall stone forceps
They measure 19.5 cm. That makes them one of the shorter patterns we carry. Consequently, they feel light and precise in the hand.
When a shorter pattern helps
Stones near the opening do not need a long reach. A shorter forceps gives better feel instead. As a result, the surgeon can grasp the stone more delicately.
Typical procedures
Open cholecystectomy uses them to clear stones from the gallbladder. In addition, they help at the upper common duct. They also suit cystic duct work.
Technique
Pass the jaws around the stone and close them gently. Then lift it out along the line of the opening. Also, check for fragments afterwards.
Building a set
Many trays pair a short and a long stone forceps. For example, this pattern covers near stones, while a 26 cm pattern covers deep ones. Together they handle most cases.

Aftercare and checks
Any forceps passes a careful look by our Atlanta team before it leaves. This shorter pattern still carries three years against manufacturing defects. Every pair checked. For more on instrument alloys, consult ASTM F899. For a sister pattern, view the Czerny pattern. A second forceps in stores covers reprocessing gaps. The FAQ list walks through most buying questions. Similar patterns sit in our general surgical department. Want a second opinion on sizing? Ask us and we will reply.
