Description
Freeman Retractor 4 Prongs
The Freeman four-prong retractor is a sharp rake that holds skin flaps open. Two sizes cover small facial fields and larger body contouring work.
Two sizes
The 10 cm version has a 22 mm blade. By contrast, the 18 cm version has a 38 mm blade. As a result, one family covers both short and long flaps.
Why the Freeman four-prong retractor
Four sharp prongs grip evenly along the flap edge. So the edge does not bunch or roll. In addition, the light build reduces hand fatigue.
Typical procedures
Facelift, neck lift, breast and abdominal surgery all use it. For example, the small size holds a cheek flap. Meanwhile, the large size lifts an abdominal flap.
Choosing a size
Match the blade width to the incision length. For instance, a short facial cut needs the 22 mm blade. However, a long body incision calls for the 38 mm blade.
Handling
Seat the prongs under the dermis. Then lift smoothly toward the ceiling. Also, keep the points facing down when passing it.
