Flagg Cotton Pliers, 16 cm

Flagg cotton pliers are a 16 cm grasping instrument that dental assistants and dentists use to move cotton pellets, rolls, wedges and small restorative items. The tip finish is the main choice. Fig. 1 has smooth tips, which release small items cleanly and avoid snagging cotton fibres. Fig. 2 has serrated tips, so it grips more securely when an item is slippery or wet. For example, a serrated tip helps when retrieving a wedge coated in saliva, while a smooth tip suits placing a medicated pellet.

Style 2 Handles

Both Fig. 1 Smooth and Fig. 2 Serrated are also offered as Style 2. In the catalogue, Style 2 is the next row down: the same Flagg plier with a different handle the supplier leaves undescribed. Therefore compare the photos and choose the handle that feels steadier between your fingers. Also, if your practice already uses one style, stick with it so every tray matches.

Why 16 cm
