Description
Feilchenfeld Splinter Forceps
Feilchenfeld splinter forceps pair broad, flat arms with very fine points. The wide arms give a steady grip, while the points reach a tiny fragment.
Serrated points
Short cross serrations run along the inside of each point. As a result, a smooth splinter or glass sliver stays put while you draw it out.
Compact sizes
The 7.5 and 8 cm sizes fit a pocket or a small first aid kit. Then the 9, 10 and 11.5 cm sizes suit clinic use and larger hands.
A steady hold
Because the arms stay broad almost to the tip, they resist flexing. So the points close accurately even when you squeeze hard.
Who keeps them
Nurses, first responders and podiatrists often carry a short pair. Also, they suit veterinary clinics for thorns in paws and ears. Since the points stay short, the forceps rarely spring apart under load. That makes them a good first choice for anyone who removes slivers only now and then. For example, a sports club kit or a workshop first aid box benefits from a 9 cm pair. Clinics tend to prefer the 11.5 cm size for a fuller grip.
Care of Feilchenfeld splinter forceps
Rinse the serrated points straight after use. Next, wash the forceps with a soft brush, rinse, and dry them. Finally, look at the points under good light before sterilization.
