Description
Featherlight Bulldog Clamp
The Featherlight bulldog clamp is a small, lightweight clamp for temporary vessel occlusion. Its 10 mm jaw closes across a vessel without the bulk of a full-size clamp.
Straight lengths
Straight versions come in 31, 35 and 39 mm overall. They sit flat along the vessel and keep the field tidy. Also, the shortest size tucks into very tight spaces.
Curved lengths
Curved versions measure 30, 33 and 36 mm. So they tilt away from the line of sight and leave room for sutures. Many surgeons keep one of each shape on hand.
Why low weight helps
A heavy clamp can drag on a delicate vessel. By contrast, a light one rests in place with less pull on tissue. That explains why vascular trays often carry several.
Building a set
Order the Featherlight bulldog clamp in a mix of shapes to cover more situations. For example, pair two straight clamps with two curved ones. Then you can control inflow and outflow at once.
Cleaning Featherlight bulldog clamp
Open the jaws and rinse each clamp soon after the case. Next, work a fine brush over the jaw faces and dry thoroughly. Because these clamps are small, count them into a labeled tray so none go missing.
