The Duplay tenaculum is a long forceps for grasping the cervix. At 28 cm, it offers the most reach among our tenacula.

Why length matters

A deep vagina or a high cervix can put shorter tenacula out of reach. So a 28 cm instrument keeps the operator’s hand outside the field. Also, it leaves space for a long speculum and a light source.

Holding the cervix

The instrument fixes the cervix so the canal lines up with the uterine cavity. Then sounds and dilators follow a straighter course. Meanwhile, the assistant can hold the traction steady.

Operating room use

Surgeons often choose long tenacula for vaginal surgery in the operating room. However, they work in the office too when the anatomy calls for it. Plus, one long model can cover cases a short one cannot.

Short plus long

A balanced set includes a compact tenaculum and a long one. For example, pair the Duplay tenaculum with the 20 cm Czerny. That way, the team can switch reach mid-case without leaving the table.

Cleaning Duplay tenaculum

Wipe the full length clean at the point of use before it goes to reprocessing. Then brush the tips and joint in a warm detergent bath. Dry it, then lay it flat in a full-length tray.
