Description
Dermot Pierse Fixation Forceps
The Dermot Pierse fixation forceps is a small, fine tool for anterior segment work. Its 0.2 mm tip takes a precise hold on the globe or on delicate tissue. So the eye stays steady while you cut or place a suture. It measures 8 cm.
A 0.2 mm bite
The tip width sets how much tissue you take. At 0.2 mm, the bite stays small and neat. As a result, it suits fine work near a wound, where a broad grip would crowd the view.
Short and light in the hand
An 8 cm body sits low between thumb and finger. Also, it feels light, so you can hold it for a long step without strain. Many surgeons rest the hand on the brow while they fix the eye.
- Overall length: 8 cm
- Tip width: 0.2 mm
- Fine hold on globe or wound edge
- Reusable once cleaned and sterilised
Typical uses in the theater
Surgeons often use this pattern to fix the globe during a corneal incision. It also helps to hold a wound edge while a suture goes in. However, it is not a tying forceps, so keep a separate tyer on the tray.
Protecting the fine tip
Fine tips bend if they hit a tray wall or another tool. For this reason, store the forceps in a tip guard or a silicone mat. Then inspect the tips under magnification after each clean.
Before you order the Pierse
This Pierse pattern ships non-sterile. Pierse buyers, like all our customers, hold a promise of three years against manufacturing defects. Pierse tips come from stainless steel that conforms to ASTM F899, chosen for fine, springy points. For a sturdier grip, see the Kirby-Artur fixation forceps. Our ophthalmology instrument list holds the rest, and the help and FAQs section answers order questions.
Intended for professional use. Please follow our sterilization guidance; delivery details explain how and when parcels leave.
