Description
Depth Gauge
The screw depth gauge measures the length of a drilled hole. Therefore the surgeon can choose a screw that fits exactly.
How it works
A thin hooked probe passes through the hole and catches the far cortex. Then a sleeve slides down to the near side. Moreover, the scale shows the length.
Three sizes
Choose mini, small or large. Mini suits hand and facial screws. Meanwhile, small and large suit small and large fragment systems.
Who uses a screw depth gauge
Trauma, hand and foot surgeons use it in nearly every screw fixation. It also helps in hardware revision. Besides, every screw set needs one.
Reading accurately
Hook the far cortex gently, then slide the sleeve firmly against the near side. Read the scale at eye level. Add length for washers or plates as your system advises.
Why accuracy matters
Screws that are too long can irritate tissue. Meanwhile, screws that are too short hold poorly. Consequently, careful measurement pays off.

Care
Clean the hook and sleeve carefully. Dry fully. Check that the scale is legible and the hook straight.
The pledge on each depth gauge
Practices receive three years against manufacturing defects with each depth gauge from delivery. Before the box closes, an inspector in Atlanta checks the depth gauge by hand. For delivery questions, check our FAQ section. You might pair it with the AO drill bit. For details on instrument alloys, review ASTM F899. Check the full orthopedic range for related tools. Looking for advice on options? Contact us and we will check. Larger surgical teams hold a second depth gauge so a case never waits.
