Description
DeBakey Angled Vascular Clamp, 60°
The DeBakey angled vascular clamp occludes a vessel while the surgeon opens, repairs or joins it. This model is 23.5 cm long, and its jaws turn at 60° to reach vessels that sit behind other structures.
DeBakey atraumatic jaws
The jaws carry the DeBakey pattern of fine, interlocking rows of teeth. As a result, they hold the vessel wall securely yet spread the pressure along its length. That lowers the risk of crushing the intima when the clamp comes off.
Why a 60° angle
A straight clamp works when the vessel lies in front of you. However, many vessels run deep or at an angle to the incision. So the 60° bend lets the jaws cross the vessel while the handles stay out of the line of sight.
Typical uses
Cardiovascular and vascular teams use it for peripheral arteries, for grafts and for partial or full occlusion during repair. Moreover, the length suits both open abdominal and limb procedures.
Care
Protect the jaw teeth, since damage there can tear a vessel. Therefore clean them with a soft brush only, never a wire brush. Next, rinse, dry and lubricate the box joint. Finally, close the clamp to the first ratchet tooth and check that the jaws meet evenly.
