Dandy Artery Forceps

Dandy artery forceps have jaws that curve to the side rather than up. That shape lets them lie flat against a surface.

12 cm or 14 cm

The 12 cm size comes serrated. Meanwhile, the 14 cm size comes serrated or with 1:2 teeth.

Why a side curve

A lateral curve keeps the rings out of the way when the forceps lie on a flap. Therefore they suit scalp and skin edges.

Serrated or toothed

Serrated jaws suit vessels. By contrast, teeth hold the tough galea firmly.

Scalp work

Neurosurgeons often place a row of Dandy forceps along a scalp flap to control bleeding. Then the weight of the forceps everts the edge. Because the curve is lateral, the row lies flat and stays tidy.

Reprocessing Dandy artery forceps

Clean the side-curved jaws with a soft brush. Next, rinse and dry the forceps. Then store them on a rack so the curve is not knocked out of shape.
