Description
Coronal Brow Retractor Blades
The coronal brow retractor holds the forehead flap during brow surgery. Its smooth 70 mm blade supports the flap from below, while a grip hook on the handle steadies the hold.
Front or reverse grip hook
The grip hook can face the front or the reverse side. As a result, the assistant can hold it from either side of the head. Meanwhile, the blade stays in the same position.
Size of the coronal brow retractor
It measures 18 cm overall with a 70 mm blade. That width covers the central forehead. In addition, it lets a second retractor hold the other side.
Smooth blade or rake
A smooth blade spreads pull over a broad strip. By contrast, a rake grips at points. So the blade suits the brow area, where the tissue is thinner.
Typical procedures
Open brow lifts and forehead reconstruction use it. For example, it lifts the flap while the surgeon frees tissue near the orbital rim. It also helps during closure.
Handling
Slide the blade under the flap with the curve facing up. Then pull gently using the grip hook. Also, check the brow skin often for blanching.
