The Chandler bone lever is a retractor that knee surgeons know well. It hooks around bone and pulls soft tissue clear so the joint comes into view.

Shaped for the knee

The blade curves to sit around the tibia or femur. Therefore it protects ligaments and the back of the knee during bone cuts. Many knee trays carry two or three widths.

Four widths

Pick 13, 19, 25 or 30 mm. The narrow levers fit the side gutters of the joint. Meanwhile, the wide ones hold back larger soft-tissue sleeves.

Who uses the Chandler bone lever

Knee replacement teams use it heavily. Also, trauma surgeons use it around the tibial plateau. In addition, hip and shoulder teams use the broader widths.
