Description
Burke Cervical Biopsy and Specimen Forceps Shaft
Burke biopsy forceps remove a small piece of cervical tissue for pathology. Our shaft-pattern version has a shaft of about 22 cm.
Cervical punch sampling
A punch biopsy takes a defined core of tissue from a suspect area. So the pathologist receives a sample with clear edges. Then the report can guide the next step in care.
Shaft design
A long shaft carries the jaws, which keeps the hand low. Meanwhile, the view through the colposcope stays open. Plus, the straight line helps the operator aim.
About 22 cm
This length reaches the cervix through most specula. Also, it leaves enough room to angle toward the edge of the transformation zone. As a result, Burke biopsy forceps suit routine colposcopy lists.
Stocking the clinic
Many clinics keep two or three punch patterns on hand. In that case, the Burke pattern adds another jaw style to the mix. However, stock enough of each to cover reprocessing time.
Cleaning Burke biopsy forceps
After use, open the jaws and remove any tissue with a soft brush. Next, rinse the whole instrument and check the edges for chips. Dry the Burke biopsy forceps and give them their own slot in storage.
