Brunner Ligature Conductor

The Brunner ligature conductor carries ligatures around deep vessels and pedicles. Because it comes in 25 cm and 30 cm, it reaches structures far below the skin in large patients.

Long reach

Most conductors stop at around 20 cm. By contrast, the Brunner starts at 25 cm, and the 30 cm size goes further still. That extra length keeps the surgeon’s hand outside the wound edge.

When the Brunner ligature conductor earns its place

Deep pelvic surgery, larger patients and long abdomens all push shorter tools to their limit. In those cases, this pattern places the thread exactly where it is needed without strain.

Holding a long tool steady

Rest the forearm on the patient or the drapes so the tip does not wander. Then advance the curve slowly, letting the blunt tip find the plane behind the vessel.

Loading the thread

Pass the ligature through the eye before the tool enters the wound. Leave a generous tail, since a short tail can pull back through the eye during the pass.

Brunner or Brunner-Ferrozell

Both families share long shafts. However, the plain Brunner keeps its own tip shape, while the blended version borrows the Ferrozell curve. Additionally, surgeons often pick by habit.
