Description
Breast Dissector
The breast dissector frees tissue to create the implant pocket. Its long, blunt tip separates layers through a small incision.
Lengths
We offer 30, 33 and 43 cm. In addition, the 30 cm suits a fold incision. Meanwhile, the 43 cm reaches the pocket from the armpit or areola.
Rigid or malleable
At 33 and 43 cm, you can choose rigid or malleable. Moreover, you can bend a malleable shaft to follow the chest wall. In contrast, the rigid shaft gives more push.
Why use a breast dissector
Blunt dissection follows natural planes. Bleeding stays low. Consequently, recovery tends to be smoother.
Typical procedures
Primary augmentation and revisions both call for it. It also suits capsule work. Also, many surgeons keep two lengths.
Technique
Pass the tip along the planned plane with gentle sweeps. Check the pocket outline from outside. Then compare both sides as you go.
Picking a shaft type
A rigid shaft suits firm tissue and a straight route. On the other hand, a malleable shaft helps when the route bends around the ribs. Some surgeons keep one of each, so they can switch mid-case.
Breast dissector options
- 30 cm
- 33 cm, rigid or malleable
- 43 cm, rigid or malleable
Care
Clean the full length of the shaft and dry it. Do not bend malleable shafts back and forth repeatedly. Store dissectors flat.
Buying this dissector
Surgeons get three years against manufacturing defects across this dissector after purchase. Before we pack it, a colleague in Atlanta goes over each dissector unhurriedly. For help with an order, see the help page. For facts on surgical-grade stainless, review ASTM F899. We will happily confirm details for larger orders. Check our complete general surgery section for companion pieces. Surgeons often add our spatulated pattern.
Not for home use. Our care page notes picture variation together with nickel in the steel. Lead times appear on our shipping info page.
